Track Plan for Pianomanjojo

Description

This was done exsclusively for my friend and begining model railroader :iconpianomanjojo:

A while be we got into a discussion about model railroading and expressed he wanted an "Old West" themed layout. We talked a lot about what scales/gauges would be the best to use and so on; as well as their pros and cons. He settled with my prefered choice of indoor scale, On30. Although I recomended On30 I did recomend other scales because some had more veriatey in "Old West" products. Such as rolling stock, locomotives, buildings, ect...
I think On30 will serve his pourpose well. On30 is perfect for emulating a Mid to Late 19th century narrow gauge railroad who's main industry comes from mining and cattle.

Since he has yet to build a layout and he was looking for something "simple" in terms of a track plan. From my own personal experiance the steriotype "oval" track plan gets boring over time. The only options for the trains is to go around and round in either forward or reverse. This get's a little redundant over time I think. SOOO... I added some operational interest by adding a number of switches. A short spur leading to an ore bin, a switch leading to a 2-stall engine house, and a siding by the station. I did add a small river/creek, two tunnels, three bridges, and numberous other details to add visual interest. The buildings I added are just to convey possible building placements. :iconpianomanjojo: can change any of the building placements and even change or take away the mining spur. This is just to help him along with his modeling venture.

I hope this helps, it took me a while to work it out, but I think that this is simple enough for a beginner's layout. And :iconpianomanjojo:, do not be afriad to ask me for anymore help and tips!!! :D
