Again Aleu's jaw was slightly agape. The cab was indeed rather spacious, even with the backhead of the boiler nearly passing through entirely. She then slid open the engineer's window and leaned outward looking to the rear. The turntable was lined up properly and so Aleu began to ease her hulking steamer out of the engine stall. First she pulled the Johnson bar all the way back towards herself, followed by releasing the breaks. Then carefully she took the throttle in her hands and gently eased it open. White jetting clouds of team hissed from the cylinder cocks as its small wheels began rolling backward.

The Wrong Train: Chp. 5 A.J. stood on the platform watching Lady and Tramp’s engine steam into the yard. Once there a Switchman changed the points and a “Fresh” locomotive began backing out of the yard. It was to pick up 97’s train and move on West. A.J. walked on down the platform to his left, walking towards the main road leading into town. The wind started picking up and a gust blew past him, he shrugged his shoulders and his ears swung back from the cold frigid air. The Wrong Train: Chp. 4 A.J. stood on the platform watching 97 steam in, her bell was ringing, steam was hissing, it was all music to A.J.’s ears. As the engine rolled past he saw two familiar crewmen in the cab. Slowly coming to a halt 97 rolled past, her brakes squealed as she came to rest. A.J. hasn’t moved and was a bout one car down from the engine, not including the tender. The air pump thumped as the engine sat, A.J. then started walking towards the cab. As he did a familiar face climbed out of the cab, it was Tramp.

“Ya’ Know, you guys should really leave the Mountain Railroading to me!”

The Wrong Train: Chp. 3 A.J. pushed the MOW cars into their siding, Fiesta once more leaped from the cab to the ground and hurried to uncouple the cars. Fiesta gave the signal to reverse but he waited for him to return to the cab. Three blasts of the whistle and Comanche backed away, A.J. ran back through the switches towards the Narrow Gauge main line. Once there a Switchman changed the points, much to Fiesta’s relief. A.J. the pushed the Johnson bar forward, opened the throttle and headed for the Roundhouse and the Shops. A Hogger was waiting to drive Comanche towards the shops but A.J. passed right on by; the hogger was confused and followed after Comanc

The Wrong Train Chp. 2 A.J. eased open Comanche’s throttle. He had dropped the MOW cars to move the Rotary to its storage track next to the Roundhouse. The engine now in a slow jog towards the Turntable, the storage track was right next to the Roundhouse. A.J. needed to put the Rotary onto the Turntable which would rotate in the direction of the side track. As A.J. approached the Turntable he slowed his loco to a stop with the Rotary a few feet from the table’s edge. A brakeman showed the tracks were aligned and A.J. cracked open the throttle, but just barely. Expertly he inched the Rotary onto the Turntable, despite his youth he commanded the controls

The Wrong Train opening chp. 1 It was mid Fall, the year was 1903. It was a some what dismal day, it was cold, wet and the sky was all grey. A light snow was gently falling in the light breeze. Some of the flakes whipped and danced about gracefully. Broad patches of snow lay on the ground from a previous storm. Some of the snow flakes landed on the wooden ties of an old narrow railroad track. The wetness of the day caused the rail tops to gleam. But overall it was very quiet.

Then the whistle could be heard faintly in the distance, signaling its forth coming. The track it ran on was settled between two hills. The train was only a few miles South East of Wolf Creek CO. T

Perhaps one of my best works yet, it took about 7 or so hours to complete, acumulatively. This scene was inspired by an old sketch I had done on yellow lined paper.

Shown here is the small little 2-4-4-2 Mallet affectionately known as "Shilo", home built out spare parts and a derelict C-16. Her engineer, Jason Korber, prepares the forward sand dome to be topped off. While on the tender the fireman, Savoy Ostanov, prepares the little locomotive to take on water before tackling the steep and treaturous grades withing the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

The drawing was first lightly sketched out with a 0.5 mechanical pencil. Then the drawing was inked using 005, 01, and 03 tipped Prismacolor fine line markers. I do intend to color this at some point.
