Description

Well here it is, my "semi-scale" drawing of the Walt Disneyworld Railroad's "Roger E. Broggie".

I say Semi-Scale because... well... I didn't have an actuall set of plans to use. All I had were some specific measurements to go by for some of the loco's parts. Knowing the Drive wheel and lead wheel diameters was a HUGE help. The drivers are 44" and the lead wheels are 24". The length of the prototype is said to be 42' 2-1/2". My drawing comes out at somewhere around 30 some-odd feet.

I also went with a more realistic approach to the loco compared with the prototype. To the trained eye one can point out the unrealistic "faults" of the prototype. For example, the sand and steam domes. They are the same diameter, only the steam dome is taller. Also the whistle comes out of the steam dome side instead of from the top. I don't know how common that was in the late 1800s so don't hold me to that.

I used more of a Baldwin style steam dome and sand dome. The sand dome is similar to that of a C-16, so I may get a set of C-16 domes for this proposed model. I also added a brake cylinder to the rear of the locomotive for more realism. (yes I know, I didn't draw any brake shoes)
The smoke stack will be interesting. Depending on whether or not PSC has an identical or similar detail part will decern if I have to build it myself.

And for the sake of making the built more complicated, I decided to add the crosshead driven water pump. I felt it would add visual interest to the model, not to mention impress those who can see a "functioning" water pump.

The tender is in the works and is a bit shorter looking than the prototypes, which I think adds realism. Still debating whether the loco should be a coal or wood burner. I'm open to hear your opinions.
Well I hope you all like her!

THank goodness you drew up one of these, I started pixelmotiving again with the Tweetsie No. 12 and Roger E Broggie and this is so far the only good side drawing I could find for it
