Description
This is a concept design for a friend's modeling project. He's working on a freelance 30in gauge railroad set in Gerogia. Via Email he gave me a "history" of the D&R.
Engine #1, if I recall correctly, is a 2-4-0 built in 1874. I forget who he said the builder was, but I took a lot of inspiration from the Union Iron Works and Virginia & Truckee #1, the "Lyon".
The only thing is I think I went a little too far back in terms of building practice however. The locomotive is more 1860s than 1870s in design, or at least that's my perception.
Anyway, he didn't ask me to draw this, I volenteered, and frankly I LOVE how it turned out!
Well I hope my friend likes is and I hope you all do as well! I really put some effort into this one and it took me a while to complete. Although I appologize for the poor scanner quality. I was at a friend's house and used his, but it's decent enough though.
